Most of Andrew’s collection features locomotives from the pre‑grouping era, with the single Fairlie carrying SM&AR livery, as it was in the year between it coming to Britain and the company becoming the Midland & South Western Junction Railway Company, on June 23 1884. Andrew also has two locomotives in M&SWJR livery – Beyer Peacock 2-4-0T No. 5 of 1882 and Beyer Peacock 2-6-0 No. 14 of 1896. Andrew has scratchbuilt both of these locomotives, apart from the motor and the wheels. Each one took two years to build and he has won awards for both of them from the Gauge O Guild, the Chairman’s Cup and the Carlson Trophy for Scratchbuilding.
