Railcars in ‘O’ & ‘OO’

Model Rail (UK) - - Opening The Box -

Heljan is to produce the GWR ‘razor edge’ railcar in both ‘O’ and ‘OO’ gauges. The GWR built a number of different railcars between 1934 and 1942; Heljan has chosen Nos. 19-33, which featured a distinctive angular body built at Swindon Works in 1940/41 with 9.25-litre AEC engines. Heljan’s ‘O’ gauge model will boast fine detail, discreet mechanism, external and interior lights, sprung buffers and easy DCC conversion. Six liveries are planned – two in GWR chocolate and cream, two in BR crimson and cream and two in BR green. Prices have yet to be confirmed. The ‘OO’ gauge version should consign Hornby’s old Lima model to the archives. Heljan promises a similar specification and choice of liveries to the ‘O’ gauge model as development work will follow the larger model. Delivery dates and prices have yet to be confirmed.
