THREE PIERS

Model Rail (UK) - - Masterplan Dramatic Lines - ALL: HOLLY NORRIS

There are three piers at Ryde: the foot/road pier of 1814, the derelict tramway pier of 1864 and the half-mile railway pier, which opened in 1880. The latter was jointly funded by the London Brighton & South Coast and London & South Western railways. The railway from Ryde Esplanade south was the property of the Isle of Wight Railway, which also worked trains on the ‘joint’ pier.
