Colour clash

It’s funny how Britain’s newest train is run by two operators with rather traditional names. Whereas GWR has tipped a nod to the livery of its ‘Big Four’ namesake on its Hitachi Class 800s, LNER, the newest operator of the East Coast Main Line, has gone with this red and white scheme, rather than Apple green… 800103 shows off its new look on September 24, but Class 800s won’t enter regular service until 2019.
