The coast with the most
David Boon
This is ‘Luciton St James’, which began life in 2014 as a 8ft by 4ft board on which my children could run their Thomas trains, and I could run models from old layouts. I haven’t done any modelling since 2007, but I was spurred on by my son’s interest, so I came out of retirement and started to build this layout. Then my daughter suggested we should have a seaside branch line. The layout became ‘Sandy Cove’, then, in 2017, we decided to make a bigger continuous run. Over the past year we have supplanted a LRT route onto the layout because my son likes trams. The layout is now geared up for 25kv AC traction and uses masts by Electrotren, black cotton thread for the wires and a few gantries and masts of the new Network Rail types. The layout is fun, bright and simple to use.
