GREEN LIGHT FOR DAPOL ‘LIGHT PACIFIC’ IN ‘N’
Dapol WILL produce an all-new Bulleid ‘Light Pacific’ in ‘N’. The project was originally unveiled in 2011 but, during 2017, Dapol announced that development had been put on hold. The ‘Light Pacific’ will spearhead Dapol’s ‘Next Generation’ range of ‘N’ gauge steam outline models. Its old arrangement of a motor in the tender and a shaft through the cab to the driving wheels has been abandoned. Instead, the motor will be mounted inside the locomotive. The body will be die-cast and complemented with an injection- moulded tender. Other features include a Next18 DCC socket, provision for sound and a partially compensated chassis for improved performance. Dapol will produce the air-smoothed ‘West Country’ and ‘Battle of Britain’ first. Rebuilt ‘Light Pacifics’ will follow.
