GET READY FOR GT3

-

KR Models is a new name in the world of ‘OO’ gauge model manufacturing and it has chosen the experimental gas turbine 4‑6‑0 No. GT3 as its first locomotive. No. GT3 was built by English Electric in 1961 and was unusual for the day in that it resembled a steam locomotive, complete with tender. In fact, the locomotive was fitted with high and low‑pressure turbines and had an output of 2,750hp. Initial testing was carried out in Wales before it moved to the Great Central’s London Extension. Its last trials included a run over Shap on the West Coast Main Line in 1962 before it went into store. It was scrapped in 1966. KR Models is to produce two versions of No. GT3: one DCC ready and one with sound. Specifications have yet to be confirmed, but delivery is expected in late 2019. Price: From £185.00 Availability: KR Models Tel: 07808 632330 Web: www.krmodels.co.uk
