A GRAND DAY OUT

There are four railways you can visit for almost guaranteed ‘Quarry Hunslet’ haulage: the Bala Lake and Llanberis Lake railways in Wales, the Launceston Steam Railway in Cornwall and Bressingham Steam Museum in Norfolk. If you want to get a flavour of what the quarry industry was like, the National Slate Museum at Llanberis and Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog are highly recommended.
