Use the power of magnets for hands-free painting…

This great new device from RP Toolz of Hungary consists of a stylish and ergonomic T-shaped metal handle topped with a pair of powerful magnets. A number of small metal discs are supplied, for fixing to the underside or interior of a model with cyano or epoxy adhesive. The magnetic handle will then clamp the model securely to help with assembly and painting. Further steel discs are available separately. Helpfully, a clear plastic base is also provided and this allows the tool to stand vertically, with virtually no risk of toppling over.

The discs need to be spaced to match the magnets on the handle and we found that they could be placed loose within an open wagon body, whereupon the tool is able to grip the model successfully from below. Such is the power of the magnets that the clamping force is effective even through thick plastic. Indeed, the strong retaining force may be an issue with very delicate models but, for many plastic kits and RTR models, this could prove a worthy investment.
