Build from off the shelf

Can you build a great-looking layout using off-the-shelf parts alone? There’s only one man for the job:

Model Rail (UK) - - Contents - Chris Nevard!

When Kernow Model Rail Centre contacted Model Rail regarding its new shop in Guildford, it also asked if we would be able to create a layout for a display, using as many off-the-shelf items that could be bought from Kernow as possible. We challenged Chris Nevard to the build and asked him to sprinkle some ‘Nevard’ magic onto the project. He has documented almost 80 hours’ worth of building into step-by-step guides over the following pages

so that you can achieve the ‘Nevardesque’ look on your layout. You will be able to view the finished ‘Porth Emmet’ in Kernow’s Guildford shop when it opens on May 1. Chris has used his skills to bring you five guides to achieving a superb finish from the track through landscaping, scenery and buildings right through to the finishing touches. All the techniques use cheap, readily available household products, so there is nothing to stop you from achieving the same result.
