There are several other tweaks you can make to improve the realism of your card kit. They’re are easily transferable to other building kits too.
Adding lights makes a huge difference. Woodland Scenics Just Plug system is recommended as it’s easy to install and is safe for working with card. Make sure you paint the interior black to prevent the light from showing through the card.
Above: Just painting the doors in a variety of colours makes a massive difference to the overall effect. Use a small paintbrush and acrylic paint – you may need a couple of coats. Inset: Use a pin head or a thick blob of paint to represent the door handle. Don’t forget to paint on a letterbox.
Hide the gap under the building by running a thin bead of glue along the outer edge. Sprinkle on some grass or dirt scatters and, if the gap is a big one, some foliage too.
