HORNBY BR CLASS 9F 2-10-0

Hornby has offered a variety of ‘9Fs’ over the past 50 years, most GAUGE recently in the Railroad range. However, this will be a completely new product, tooled to a high specificat­ion and with a choice of tender types. Three versions are due initially, including 92167 which was fitted with a mechanical stoker. Unsurprisi­ngly, the iconic 92220 Evening Star – the last main line steam locomotive built for British Railways – is also to be replicated in this initial batch, in fully lined BR green. There’s even talk of a possible Tyne Dock-equipped version in the future… What’s planned? Meanwhile, No. 2007 Prince of Wales gets a separate tooling to reflect the different details and dimensions of the new locomotive that’s currently under constructi­on at Darlington, by the team behind ‘A1’ 60163 Tornado.
