HATTONS ‘GENESIS’: PROGRESS REPORT

M odel Rail was given the opportunity to examine an engineering prototype of one of Hattons forthcoming

‘OO’ gauge ‘Genesis’ six-wheel carriages – and, although a few tweaks are needed, it’s showing plenty of promise. This three-compartment brake vehicle features excellent moulded panel and door detail, while the rooftop and underframe are also impressive, with a full array of brake gear installed, along with a gas tank and plumbing for the interior light fittings.

Metal running boards, footsteps, wire handrails, brass buffers and separate lamp brackets all add a touch of class. The sample ran smoothly over a variety of curves and turnout radii, thanks to a sliding centre axle unit and pivoting NEM coupler pockets.

A substantial range of vehicles is being offered and the first batch of livery samples are due soon.
