Automated shuttle modules

-

There are two analogue systems currently available which essentially reverse locomotive direction at a predetermined point at each end of the track. The first system uses diodes to block current in one direction and allowing current to flow in the other direction. The second system works by infrared which detects the position of the locomotive without having to modify the track. The locomotive pause time can be varied with both systems which work in tandem with conventional analogue controllers.

I chose to use the ‘Simple Shuttle’ priced at £15, supplied by Black Cat Technology, which has the diodes built into the module thus avoiding having to solder them directly to the track. Power can be supplied from the accessory terminals on a train controller or a 9V battery.
