REVOLUTION’S SWEET CAROLINE & IPA

-

Revolution Trains has received the first engineering prototype samples of the forthcoming ‘00’ SR General Manager’s Saloon 975025, Caroline. Converted in 1969 from a former Hastings unit Buffet car, the real vehicle is equipped with driving controls that are compatible with a variety of existing locomotive types, making it an integral part of Network Rail’s infrastructure inspection fleet.

The EPS represent Caroline in its original and current form and production models will feature switchable exterior and interior lighting, complete with Stay Alive capacitor for flicker-free operation. Period-specific fittings will be fitted, inside and out, including different patterns of armchairs!

Three versions are offered in all: original condition BR blue/grey livery with yellow ends; in Network Southeast livery as operated 1991-96; present day Network Rail green livery. Models can be pre-ordered directly from Revolution Trains for £149.

Having already produced the IPA car carriers in ‘N’ (MR282), Revolution Trains’ new ‘OO’ version has now reached the decorated sample stage. All liveries have been checked and the models will go into production shortly after the order book closes at midnight on July 31 2021.

The IPAS were introduced into the UK in the mid-1990s, in anticipation of an increase in automotive traffic via the Channel Tunnel. All IPA variants, in authentic liveries, are being offered and pre-ordering is open now, for £60 (twin sets) and £120 (quad sets.)

Both the IPAS and Caroline may be available for purchase after production, but at a slightly higher price.
