MDO/MDV AND COIL ‘A’ WAGONS UPGRADED
Accurascale’s ever-popular BR 21t steel-bodied MDO/MDV mineral wagons are being relaunched, with a re-tooled chassis in response to customer feedback. The new models will feature 26mm axles and redesigned brake gear to make conversion to ‘P4/EM’ standards much easier, without compromising performance on ‘OO’ layouts.
Other small modifications have also been included, such as extra lamp brackets on the MDVS and none at all on the MDOS, while interior decoration will be enhanced with a grimier looking shade of paint applied. Something that will be welcomed by modellers of 1980s-era Speedlink trains is the production of the through-piped MDW variant for the first time, which lasted in use on coal and scrap metal traffic until 1992.
Offered in Accurascale’s usual triple-packs, both PRE-TOPS and TOPS-ERA versions are available (where appropriate) and they can be pre-ordered now for £74.95 per pack, with delivery slated for late Spring.
Another wagon to re-enter production is the covered Coil ‘A’ wagons, which are also receiving a few tooling upgrades, again with an eye on facilitating conversion to Finescale standards. Two new packs are being produced, with SFV and SFW TOPS codes respectively. The SFV codes were carried by wagons working from South Wales during the 1980s, as did the SFWS, although these latter wagons often worked export traffic to Newport or Poole docks. Like the MDO/MDWS, the Coil ‘A’ wagons are also being offered in triple-packs at the same price as previous production runs (£74.95) and they’re available to pre-order direct or from your local Accurascale stockists.
