ACCURASCALE LAUNCHES ‘66’ IN AID OF SAMARITANS

A rendition of Freightliner’s 66415 You Are Never Alone, in the latest Genesee & Wyoming orange/ black livery, is being offered by Accurascale, with the manufacturer pledging to donate £10,000 from sales to the charity Samaritans.

Samaritans is a charity with strong links to the railway industry, working tirelessly to foster awareness of mental health issues and suicide prevention. According to the Office for National Statistics, around 5,000 suicides are registered in England alone each year, with rates currently at an alarming high. Samaritans are there for anyone struggling to cope and in need of someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Freightliner’s 66415 was named in association with Samaritans and Greater Anglia in 2019 to help raise awareness of the invaluable work the Samaritans do to help prevent suicide across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Richard Amos, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Samaritans, stated “the special name of the locomotive You Are Not Alone, is a poignant reminder that Samaritans are there 24/7 every day of the year, to listen to anyone who is going through a difficult period in their lives”.

Accurascale’s model is currently in production and is due to arrive early this year, along with the initial batch of Class 66s. The special model is being produced in limited numbers and will be available exclusively from Accurascale’s website, offered in Dcc-ready or DCC sound-fitted formats.
