● Springsteen and his future wife Patti Scialfa first spoke when, aged 17, she applied to sing in his band. “I told her she should stay in high school.” In 1974 she auditioned for the E Street Band, but it would be another 10 years before she finally joined. ● In 1984, Bruce and Steve Van Zandt were kicked out of Disneyland for not removing their bandanas. ● In 1994 Springsteen recorded an album in the vein of his Oscar-winning Streets Of Philadelphia. It remains unreleased. ● Roy Bittan and Nils Lofgren missed the start of a 1985 Pittsburgh stadium show, as they were backstage playing ping-pong. The Boss was livid. “Ping-pong tables were banned for years.”
