BACK STORY: THE TRUTH IN BLACK & WHITE

In 2007, Cave and Warren Ellis composed the music for Australian film-maker Andrew Dominik’s western The Assassination Of Jesse James. Thus Dominik was an obvious choice as director for One More Time With Feeling, the film about making Skeleton Tree which Cave financed knowing he didn’t want to talk to journalists about the death of his son. The film was shot in black and white and 3D, and Cave had final cut approval. Though conflicted about the work, he said it was obviously “made with love” and told Dominik to “leave it as it is”.
