PIRANHA. LP First released 25 years ago, Addis 1988 caught Ethiopia as the Derg military government slowly lost its grip on power. Very much an album of two halves, with the first featuring Ethio Stars’ Ethiopian funk (Kermosew is the bestknown tune here) and the Tukul Band providing a more traditional second. The fingerprints of Mulatu Astatke’s genius are the uniting factor.
