Lucky 7

- MUNSTER

Lucky 7 boxes seven 45s by the Boston garage punks, led by ex-DMZ mainman Jeff Conolly. Wrapped in facsimile sleeves with a 20-page booklet, rare photos, notes by Conolly and a CD gathering the A- and B-sides included, the 16 tracks span 1979 to ’91, the jewel being the first proper issue of their two-track inaugural acetate. How Do You Know? and It’s All Right, recorded live and self-pressed only two weeks after the group’s first rehearsal, are raw, lo-fi and sneery. A studio version of How Do You Know? became their debut single issued on the Sounds Interesting label, and is slightly more polished. Nevertheless, it’s a strong statement of intent. Later sides released on Ace Of Hearts Records and produced by Rick Harte are harder and rockier but still adhere to the raw energy principles of Pebbles. LW
