At the insistence of Knocked Up director and Number 1 fan Judd Apatow, Loudon compiled 40 Odd Years,a 4-CD (and one DVD) best of for Shout! Factory, an admirably ruthless selection showcasing his most honest and unsentimental tracks. Better still is the excellent extra CD of previously unreleased tracks and a three-hour-plus DVD of documentaries and performance clips. (NB, the DVD is Region 1 only.) Also check out BBC Sessions,a de facto best-of, its tracks benefitting from a no-frills production. Three songs – Sunday Times, I Wish It Was Me and It’s Love And I Hate It – are not issued on album.
