ROCK’N’ROLL ALL NIGHT!
Billed as ‘An All-Night Festival of Beat Music’, the first ’til dawn rock concert is held at London’s Alexandra Palace. The line-up includes Gene Vincent, Craig Douglas, Shane Fenton & The Fentones, Long John Baldry, Screaming Lord Sutch, The John Barry Seven, Cyril Davies & The R&B All-Stars, The Barron Knights and Robb Storme & The Whispers, a Luton band who will later include Lewis Collins, AKA Bodie of TV’s The Professionals, on bass. Earlier, in January ’63, the Ally Pally had hosted a wild trad jazz all-nighter featuring Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk and Ken Colyer.
