Smashing girl group sounds from the Parlophone, HMV and Columbia labels.

In 1966, She Trinity, a fourpiece comprising three Brits and an American, went into the studio with producer Mickie Most and recorded their version of The Crickets’ I Fought The Law. Ace year-zero she-punk, it’s widely acknowledg­ed as the blueprint for The Clash’s version of the song and is highly sought-after. As are the original 45s by this fab compilatio­n’s LP cover star Julie Driscoll and the CD cover star Billie Davis. Here, the former turns Inez and Charlie Foxx’s Don’t Do It No More and I Know You Love Me Not, written by her brother-in-law Brian Godding of Blossom Toes, into an emotional spectacle with her unwavering vocal delivery. The latter, backed by the Leroys, delivers Chuck Willis’s Whatcha’ Gonna Do it as a rousing club-soul dancer. Lois Wilson
