Träd, Gräs Och Stenar
HHH Tack För Kaffet SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS. CD/LP Last testament to the archetypal configuration of the Swedish prog giants. The title translates from the Swedish as “thanks for the coffee”, a colloquialism for “so long”. It’s a remembrance of founder members Torbjörn Abelli and Thomas Mera Gartz who died in 2010 and 2012. The venerable folk-drone-psych outfit’s first album since 2009’s Hemlösa Katter is sourced from improvisations recorded in 2009 and features Abelli and Gartz, founder member Bo Anders Persson, new-and-oldboys Sigge Krantz, Jakob Sjöholm and, from TGS’s spiritual heirs Dungen, Reine Fiske. Opener, E Moll Slow is 20 minutes of characteristically plangent, undulating instrumental interplay which sets the album up as no entry point for neophtyes. Contrastingly, the bludgeoning Pengar (trans: Money) beats Sister Ray at its own game. Despite being for the committed, Tack För Kaffet stresses that the still-extant Träd, Gräs Och Stenar were and always will be irreplaceable. Kieron Tyler
