RICK JAMES: Los Angeles Coliseum, 1979.
BT: “There’s 100,000 people out there! We had total, complete access to the stage, backstage, to everything that happened. Rick had these knee-high – I call them seven-league – white leather boots, and he’d strut across the length of the stage, so I thought, All right, when he comes my way I’m gonna walk out just a bit and make him big in the frame. It was a call-andresponse: he was cupping his ear to hear what the crowd was saying.”
