WHAT WE’VE LEARNT

-

● Warner Bros. had planned to show Amazing Grace on a bizarre double-bill with Gordon Parks’ 1972 blaxploitation classic Superfly.

● Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts – in LA to work on Exile On Main St. – sat at the back of the church on the second night. “I’d seen Aretha many times in concert,” Jagger recalled in 2015, “but this was the first time I’d seen her in a church.” At one point, the camera catches him on his feet, dancing and clapping his hands.

● After shelving Amazing Grace, Pollack directed another singing star, Barbra Streisand, in 1973’s The Way We Were.
