That’ll be the proverbial snowstorm in August…

I appreciate that 1978 was a good year for album releases, as David Tags Taylor notes in his letter [MOJO 308]. But I have to go with 1967. Sgt. Pepper’s, Surrealistic Pillow, Disraeli Gears, Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love, Days Of Future Passed, Forever Changes, Born Under A Bad Sign, Strange Days, Between The Buttons – I don’t even have to name the bands. Plus, very good first LPs from The Doors, Country Joe And The Fish, Laura Nyro, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen, Ten Years After, H.P. Lovecraft, Arlo Guthrie, Van Morrison, Big Brother And The Holding Company, Moby Grape, Vanilla Fudge, Grateful Dead, Procol Harum, The Velvet Underground. I could go on… Suffice to say, it was a very good year, the best ever for LPs in my opinion. Thanks.

Peace, Justice, Solidarity.
