Sound innovation
To celebrate the musical talent and creativity on show at the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize, we are offering you the chance to win tickets to this year’s show, courtesy of Hyundai.
THE HYUNDAI MERCURY PRIZE champions the best British and Irish music, supporting artists who push boundaries to produce creative and innovative long-playing albums. This is true in 2019 more than ever, with a list that includes established creative talents like Anna Calvi and Cate Le Bon alongside relative newcomers such as 24-year old Northampton rapper, slowthai and Dadaist noise berserkers Black Midi. There are big rock names here, like Foals and The 1975, next to soulful singer-songwriters such as NAO and Bristol agit-rockers IDLES. But whether it’s
the Dublin post-punk of Fontaines D.C. the inspirational British rap of Dave and Little Simz, or the jazz-funk grooves of Cassie Kinoshi’s SEED Ensemble, one thing is certain; each album here is striving for progress, a challenge to convention and a celebration of innovation. For fans and musicians alike, the experience of listening to a great album can also be a catalyst for change or a desire to break new ground. So to help celebrate how great albums will always push boundaries here is your chance to attend the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize awards show on 19 September at the Eventim Apollo – Hammersmith, an evening devoted to the celebration of the artistry and innovation of music’s finest format of creative expression, the long-playing album.
To win tickets to the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize listen to Ross Buchanan on Absolute Radio every Sunday at 4 – 8am or head to absoluteradio.co.uk. Tickets are courtesy of Hyundai.
