Suzi Quatro

STEAMHAMMER/SPV. CD/DL/LP Back in the jumpsuit for a second collaboration with son Richard.

- James McNair

Still possessed of the most emphatic “Ow!” since James Brown, certified live performance addict Suzi Quatro here pleads for “One more gig before I die!” Still, if Get Outta Jail finds her doing lockdown porridge, and Isolation Blues reports upon the consolations of gin & tonic, her second collaborative LP with Richard Tuckey, her son by Nashville Teens/’70s Quatro band guitarist Len Tuckey, channels her spare energy with obvious relish. The gutsier tracks are the real winners, Quatro channelling her Detroit and glam roots on Motor City Riders and the title track, but there are surprises, too. Betty Who ultimately morphing into something akin to a remix by the late Andrew Weatherall is fun; but Chi-Lites-like Christmas song My Heart And Soul jarrs a bit heard in March. All that said, Quatro’s force-ofnature status is wholly intact.
