The Upsetters Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle (Upsetters, 1973) The Sound: Mixed at King Tubby’s studio using rhythms from extant Scratch productions, this trailblazing, limited edition dub release is like sonic Kirlian photography, an out-of/into-focus capturing of the musical ghost in the machine. Within, stereo moves spatially, sound changes size and the event horizon of bass is inescapable. Who invented dub is up for debate, but who made it sing was Scratch.
