BOTTOM LINE BLING

-

● Founded by Allan Pepper and Stanley Snadowsky, The Bottom Line was New York’s premier showcase room for three decades, opening on February 12, 1974 with a double bill of Dr. John and Gary Farr. Bruce Springsteen, Todd Rundgren, Laura Nyro and Lou Reed were among the artists who broadcast shows and recorded live there. Peter Cook and Dudley Moore taped part of the scabrous Derek And Clive (Live) at the club in 1974, and Lou Reed’s insult-comic classic Take No Prisoners came from a 1978 engagement where he ripped into his label boss, Clive Davis, who was in the audience. “I was drunk, and I’ve always regretted that,” Reed said later. “On the other hand, that’s Lou!”
