BLUEGRASS JAMS A SPECIALITY

- Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway release City Of Gold on July 21 on Nonesuch.

What music are you currently grooving to?

The National, First Two Pages Of Frankenstein, and the LP by Boygenius. I've been a big fan of The National since I was in high school and started getting into indie rock. I became a big fan of Phoebe Bridgers, which led me to her supergroup Boygenius. What, if push comes to shove, is your all-time favourite album? Blue by Joni Mitchell. A classic masterpiece that I'm always discovering new things to love about.

What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it? Guero by Beck, at Tower Records when I was in 7th grade. An older cousin took me and picked out that CD for me. I pored over the lyrics and linernotes and know that album like the back of my hand!

Which musician, other than yourself, have you ever wanted to be? Too many to count! Trying to be like another musician is a great way to find your own style. When I was growing up, Gillian Welch and Hazel Dickens were big influences. I don't know if I would be doing what I do now if I hadn't tried to emulate them. What do you sing in the shower?

If I'm working on a new song I often sing it in the shower.

What is your favourite Saturday night record?

Taylor Swift just played three stadium shows in Nashville and I didn't have tickets but tailgated her concert on Saturday night and watched the jumbo screen from the parking lot. I've been obsessed ever since. I think Red is perfect for a fun night out. And your Sunday morning record?

I love making coffee and listening to instrumental music to get my day started. One of my go-to's is World’s Fair by Julian Lage.
