Debee Ruiz’s Christmas traditions

For Debee Ruiz, baking is the ultimate show of affection come Christmas time

When I think about celebrating festivities I think Buddy the Elf said it best: “First we’ll make snow angels for two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of cookie dough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.” It’s about spending time with the ones we love and, when we gather, we eat. My absolute favourite way to celebrate is baking. No need to wait for special occasions, either. It’s your birthday? I’m going to bake you something. It’s not your birthday? No problem. We’ll find something else to celebrate and bake for.

baking is a love language. if i bake for you, then it’s a sure sign i love you

You got a new shirt? Yep. I’m gonna bake you something. It’s one of my favourite love languages and a form of therapy. If I bake for you, it’s a sure sign I love you. I also adore the packaging that comes with gifting caloricious goodies, and love accessorising my bakes with a few ornaments that family and friends can use after everything’s eaten up. So in fact, I’m giving the gift of both eating and decorating. Try it out – your friends and family will love it.
