Tabloid money… Lib Dems and Greens stick it to the man

⬤ This Morning TV presenter Holly Willoughby (pictured) has unveiled The Wild, her new £41 bespoke perfume for her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon, says Amanda Platell in the Daily Mail. Willoughby launched Wylde Moon last October, selling a range of jewellery designed by Kirstie Le Marque, including a £450 diamond crescent moon and stars pendant and £495 diamond and moonstone earrings.

The scent is her latest offering. Willoughby describes it as “a wild country garden after rainfall”. The English National Opera was to be in attendance during the official launch because Willoughby, she says, loves the “powerful voices [that] help me reconnect with my inner voice and not be afraid to express it”. “Such navel-gazing drivel over a pong which by her own admission smells like soggy manure!”

⬤ The boss of Co-op’s food division, Jo Whitfield, has divided opinion by taking four months’ unpaid leave to help her two sons prepare for their exams, says Sarah Vine in The Mail on Sunday. Is this a shining example of perfecting the work/life balance, or a cop- out? “I’m just rather envious. Not only that she can afford to take unpaid leave in the first place (she earned £1.4m in 2020), but also because I wish I’d come up with the idea myself.” Being a young adult is fraught these days. Just because they have their own front door key and know how to microwave a lasagne, it doesn’t mean a parent’s job is done. “That’s why I admire Ms Whitfield for her choice, but also applaud the Co- op for its vision in allowing it.”

⬤ Lib Dem and Green Party-run Oxfordshire council will only serve vegan food at future events, says Jeremy Clarkson in The Sun. They aren’t vegan because they love animals. They will squash a wasp as fast as the next person. No, they are vegan because they follow someone called “BigBush10198” on Twitter, who says McDonald’s is the root of all evil, and not eating meat is their way of getting back at the fast-food chain. Never mind that McDonald’s has provided £1m to British potato farmers to help them protect the soil and minimise water usage, and £750,000 to help dairy farmers improve animal health and welfare. Lib Dems and Greens don’t listen to reason. “If Sir David Attenborough told them to lick a post box every morning, they would.”
