Make a sun clock

Mother & Baby (UK) - - BABY & TODDLER -

Find a stick and 12 shells or pebbles. Then drive your stick into the sand, pop a shell on top of it, and draw a big circle around it. Check the time and then look at where the shadow is falling. If it’s 3pm, put a pebble down on the shadow and write the number in the sand. Evenly space the rest of the pebbles around the clock to mark the hours. ‘Let your child design the clock the way he wants to,’ says Cassie. ‘He’ll be thinking about shape and pattern, but if he’s interested, you could talk to him about how the shadow slowly inches around his clock, helping to show you the time.’
