Green smith keen on french charge

-

Competing away from the WRC2 spotlight, Gus Greensmith says he’s ready to put his Ford Fiesta R5 through its paces in Corsica this week.

The 21-year-old, who drove conservatively to finish second in WRC2 in Mexico last month, is chasing a return to the speed he showed on rallies like Finland – where he led the WRC2 category – last year.

“I said to my dad that it feels like a long time since we put the car on the door handles and really went for it,” said Greensmith. “Mexico was great, but I was doing exactly what I was told: getting experience and not taking any risks. We’re not running in WRC2 in Corsica, so I need to push harder in France. The plan is to find strong pace on Friday and then really look to push on Saturday. I need to get out there and find my feet again.

“The Fiesta has a great chassis, so Corsica’s the sort of place which really suits the car. To be honest, the roads are pretty insane. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Greensmith will return to his WRC2 campaign at Rally Argentina at the end of the month.
