Wilson wants answers over sensor issue
Elfyn Evans’ hopes of back-toback Wales Rally GB wins were ruled out by a previously unseen sensor failure on his Ford Fiesta WRC, retiring from second place.
Team principal Malcolm Wilson said the offending part would be sent back to supplier Mclaren to discover the reason for the problem which ruled last year’s winner out of a strong second place on day one of Britain’s WRC round last week.
“As you can imagine, I’m not very happy about this and I’ll be interested to see what Mclaren has to say about it,” said Wilson of the broken sensor.
“Elfyn was the only guy who was able to challenge Ott [Tanak] on that opening day; he was showing great pace and this was really unfortunate.”
Evans returned under Rally2 regulations, but finished 20th overall after his penalties were added for failing to complete Friday afternoon’s mileage.
