It’s been a tricky time for Scottish rallying without two of its best and most iconic events in the Jim Clark Rally and the Mull Rally.

With this consultation, we have a legitimate first step towards making these events possible again, and that can only be a good thing. With lessons hopefully learned from the tragic events of recent years – the Jim Clark (2014) and Snowman (2013) fatalities – the events are ready and chomping at the bit to come back safer and stronger.

This consultation phase will undoubtedly raise some in protest of the bill, and that is why, if you want closed-road motorsport in Scotland, you must respond at the link below.

Rallying is poorer without these two iconic events, and the legislation, if passed, would allow events to pair stages together by linking access roads to create longer stages. More fun for competitors, less stress on marshals, medical and other volunteers. That’s a win-win.

Even if you don’t quite grasp what the consultation is about, and you only take one thing away from this page, let it be this: If you want to see closedroad motorsport in Scotland, respond to the consultation below. There’s a blue box at the bottom which says: ‘Give us your views. Begin consultation’. That’s where the path to closedroad motorsport return begins.
