Ovenden looks to step up to Supercar assault
Two-time Supernational rallycross champion Tristan Ovenden is eyeing a move to the headline Supercar class in the future, but thinks it likely that he will defend his crowns in the twowheel-drive Supernational category next year as well.
The Canterbury driver told Motorsport News: “At the moment we’ll be doing Supernational again next year, but it’s a long winter and we’ll try and come up with something else to move on.”
Ovenden won a pair of single-make Swift Sport titles before moving to Supernational with a Renault Clio V6 last year.
“I’ve really enjoyed developing myself and the Clio. It’s been a great journey and I think we’ve made really good progress with it,” he said. “Supercar is the dream, that’s ultimately the next step that I’d really like to have a go at, so I hope that one day we will be there.”
