Mixed-surface sport is on the agenda for 2019
“There is nothing like the pure adrenaline of rallycross,” says Jordan, a dedicated fan of the discipline and still the only Briton to have finished on the podium in the World Rallycross Championship since it was formed in 2014.
“You are almost out of breath at the end of a race. There is nowhere to hide, it is flat out all the way and you can’t relax. The feeling is extreme.”
Jordan dabbled with a couple of rounds in the World Rallycross Championship in Britan and France in 2018 in an MJP Racing Team Austria Ford Fiesta. Although that didn’t bring the results he wanted, he is chomping at the bit to increase his involvement in 2019.
“I am looking at the calendars now, trying to see what I can fit in,” says the Red Bull-backed racer. “There will be chances to race in Europe, and that is what I am working on.
“When you race in rallycross, it is pure: there is no balance of performance. That was a breath of fresh air when I started, but then you look at the competitiveness of the BTCC and you have to say that works too. I am lucky that I have had the chance to experience both: I don’t want either of them to stop!”
