New venues for National Hot Rods in 2019
Two new venues will be included on the National Hot Rod roster for the 2019 season with the cars visiting the Skegness Raceway in April and racing on the Buxton oval in August.
The Skegness date will be a joint meeting with BRISCA F1 machines, and it will be run on Good Friday in place of the usual NHR round at Northampton, which has recently been updated with a shale surface. Northampton will remain on the schedule with one round in the early part of the 2019/2020 competition.
Reigning English points and world champion Billy Wood is helping to compile the dates at the moment, and the full roster is expected to be revealed soon. The season runs from July through to June, with a winter break.
The race at Buxton will be in place of a meeting at Tipperary in Ireland and it will be a standalone meeting for the European Challenge Cup. It is not an English points scoring round.
Wood said: “It will be interesting to visit some new venues – we haven’t done that for a while now. It will mean some work on set-ups and you could see the usual order mixed up a bit. Many of the grid will not have raced at these tracks before.”
The traditional mid-october date for National Hot Rods at Hednesford Hills Raceway has been dropped to avoid a clash with the Banger World Final.
