So many moments, so little room… What’s it to be? Something from the closest World Rally Championship finish in 15 years? Actually, no. It’s eating my first doughnut at 14,110 feet.
Actually, that’s just a very small part of it. The bigger picture is Pikes Peak, an event I’ve wanted to visit ever since I first watched Ari Vatanen climb and dance his way up America’s Mountain.
It didn’t disappoint. Neither did Volkswagen’s I.D. R Pikes Peak. Not only did it smash the record for 12.42 miles and 156 corners, it turned me on to electric. All-in-all, a fabulous few days in Colorado.
But… was that the moment of the year? Actually it wasn’t. The moment of the year has to be the one that stops you in your tracks. And this year, it wasn’t a good moment. In terms of track-stopping news value, Citroen sacking Kris Meeke took some topping.
