TOM GAMBLE WINS THE MCLAREN AUTOSPORT BRDC AWARD

-

WHERE: GROSVENOR HOUSE HOTEL, LONDON WHEN: DECEMBER 2 Tom Gamble certainly was not the favourite going into the judging process for the Mclaren Autosport BRDC Award.

He faced opposition from 2017 British F4 champion Jamie Caroline, Formula Renault Eurocup winner Max Fewtrell and the 2018 British F4 champion Kiern Jewiss. Gamble, 17, had jumped from Ginetta Juniors to F3 in one bound for 2018, which was a giant leap. He finished fifth in the points but when the pressure was on in the assessment sessions at Silverstone at the end of the year, he handled the MSV F2 car, the Ligier LMP3 and the Mclaren 650 GT3 with skill. Judges were impressed with all aspects of Gamble’s overall performance.

“To say I’ve won the Autosport Award, and having beaten some of the best drivers my age in the UK, is phenomenal,” Gamble said. “It’s definitely going to take a while to sink in! Having this award on my CV will definitely make me a lot more appealing.”
