Castle Combe to roll back to the 1960s with Autumn Classic event
Heroes of the 1960s will take centre stage at the eighth Castle Combe Autumn Classic on Saturday October 5.
The event will include a celebration of 50 years of Formula Ford at the Wiltshire track, 60 years of Marcos and a round of the Historic Racing Drivers’ Club’s new Classic Alfa Challenge.
In 1969, the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship was created as the first circuitbased championship in British motor racing. The inaugural champion was Bryan Sharp (Merlyn Mk11) and 50 years of the category will be celebrated.
Meanwhile, the circuit’s heroes of the 1960s will be remembered, including saloon car racers like Vince Woodman, Brian Cutting, Geoff Mabbs and Richard Longman.
