MOTOR SPORTS ASSOCIATION REBRANDS INTO MOTORSPORT UK
WHERE: COLNBROOK WHEN: NOVEMBER 13 Since taking over as chairman of the Motor Sports Association – responsible for governing motorsport in the United Kingdom – at the start of the year David Richards has already implemented a raft of changes which overall have been wellreceived over the last 12 months.
The 1981 World Rally champion co-driver and Prodrive boss is intent on promoting and regulating more efficiently than before, with one of the most significant changes being the rebranding of the MSA into Motorsport UK. Longtime Prodrive employee Hugh Chambers, who also worked closely with Richards at the BAR Formula 1 team in the mid2000s, collaborated with him on the rebrand since early 2018.
Chambers has previously overseen a similar transition in the governing body of sailing, and the target with Motorsport UK is similar: to increase participation, stimulate the grassroots and promote the sport externally.
