Hardly used Metro 6R4 to go un­der the ham­mer at Au­tosport show

A 1985 MG Metro 6R4 rally car, which has cov­ered just 175 miles, will be of­fered for auc­tion at Au­tosport In­ter­na­tional at the NEC, Birm­ing­ham on Jan­uary 12.

The ef­fec­tively un­used car has spent much of its life at the Con­fer­ence Cen­tre and Grand Prix Col­lec­tion at Wil­liams Grand Prix Engi­neer­ing and is ex­pected to sell for be­tween £180,000 and £200,000. When the 6R4 project was aban­doned af­ter Group B rally cars were banned at the end of 1986, un­used 6R4s were sold off for as lit­tle as £13,000.

As one of the 200 cars built, chas­sis 6R4-111 was pur­chased by the mar­ket­ing depart­ment of Wil­liams Grand Prix Engi­neer­ing in 1988. It re­mained at Wil­liams un­til 2005 be­fore be­ing pur­chased by The Ti­fosi Garage, and then sold to the cur­rent owner in 2015.

It has re­cently been recom­mis­sioned by BGM Sport.
