BRITISH F 4 AT TH RU X TON

Some of the best races I’ve seen in recent years have been the British Formula 4 slipstreamers around Thruxton. Single-seater contests at the Hampshire speedbowl are a sure-fire recipe for excitement, with the high-speed nature of the track mixed with heavy braking zones giving plenty of opportunities for excitement. And, as one of the few slicks and wings categories that get chance to compete at the venue, the British F4 races are usually special.

And this year we’re in for a real treat. A side effect of the demise of Rockingham was the British Touring Car Championship’s decision to visit Thruxton twice in 2019. And that means there will be six British F4 contests at the venue. Given the close nature of the races, and the propensity for collisions, that may leave series bosses a little worried but for the spectators, it should be brilliant.
