CELEBRATION OF THE PEUGEOT CHALLENGE

There’s not a single series that can lay claim to nurturing as much talent in British rallying as the Peugeot Challenge, admittedlyin its many forms, and in 2019 it is 30 years since the first.

The year before it was inaugurated, legendary Peugeot team boss Des O’dell tested the formula on three drivers, one of them being Colin Mcrae, while Richard Burns, Jonny Milner, David and Mark Higgins, Kevin Furber, Mark Fisher and Kris Meeke all won or competed in the challenge in various forms.

Static and moving displays will run alongside Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park on February 23 – a former Peugeot favourite for testing – while an evening meal will take place at the Woodside Hotel where the likes of Henri Toivonen inked their Peugeot contracts.

I’m sure MN will be celebrating the history of this great series through the year, and I can’t wait to hear some of the stories unearthed. A welcome spadeful of nostalgia.
