Over 200 sign-up for Peugeot Challenge event

-

Almost 200 people have signed up to the Peugeot Challenge 30th anniversary event being held alongside Race Retro at Stoneleigh Park.

The series – in various guises – helped launch the careers of Richard Burns, Jonny Milner, Kevin Furber, Mark and David Higgins and Kris Meeke, and began with the 309 and 205-based Challenge in 1989.

Due to over subscription, the event has had to move, now taking part at the Kenilworth Ramada on February 23.

As well as the evening meal – which will hold a number of tables dedicated to the likes of Burns and many of its champions – cars will be displayed in the halls at Race Retro, while the rally stage run by Rallying with Group B will feature period machinery.

Already confirmed for the event is Colin Mcrae’s 309, which he used in 1988 as the Challenge format was trialled, Furber’s RAC Rally 205 Group A car and Justin Dale’s British Junior Championship-winning 106 Super 1600. Original championship co-ordinator Keith Baud and his successor Stella Boyles also join the event. MN is expecting to reveal a number of the key attendees in next week’s issue.

For further information on the event, contact Kevin Furber on 07850 732867.
